When should I consider tree removal?
There are a variety of reasons why your tree might need to come down. Trees can be dead or dying due to poor watering, disease, and pests. They can also have root systems that are interfering with the foundation of your house or even your water supply. For safety, we recommend having one of our professional arborists perform tree removal. Look for these signs your tree may need to be removed:
- Lack of growth.
- Prolific deadwood, particularly in the outer extremities of the tree.
- Severe trunk lean.
- Large cracks or splits in major branches or trunks.
- Signs of disease or decay such as cankers, cavities, & fungi.
- Roots causing structural damage to your home, buried pipes, or driveway.
What is stump grinding service?
Stump grinding is the most efficient way to remove a tree stump. It is the process of chipping the stump away with the use of a stump grinding machine.
Tree stumps are an unsightly after effect of tree removal and, if left in place, can become a safety hazard, impact lawn equipment, and serve as the new home to pests and disease.
Our stump grinding services include:
- Surface Grade Stump Grind: We will grind the stump down to approximately 6 inches below surface grade of the immediate stump area.
- Deep Grade Stump Grind: We will grind the stump down to approximately 20 inches below surface grade of the immediate stump area.
Pricing for tree stump grinding service depends on the size of stump, site location and access, and material being removed. We will have buried utilities marked prior to service to determine if the site is safe to grind. You will want to avoid placing another tree in the same area, but grass may be planted where the stump removal occurs with topsoil, grass seed, and proper watering.
What is the best season to have my trees serviced?
We always suggest year-round tree maintenance. In terms of having professional services, it depends on what your trees and shrubs may need at the time, and we’re happy to provide an evaluation. For routine trimming, it has historically been considered safest to prune in the winter, but light pruning can be done any season. It is always better to prune ornamental fruit trees in their dormant season.
Other tree maintenance services, such as fertilization or insect protection treatment are generally performed at specific times throughout the year. While fertilization services are recommended in both spring and fall, insect protection services must generally be timed to coincide with the proper vulnerable life stage of the organisms being targeted. Though the treatments themselves must be well timed, plant healthcare services can usually be evaluated year round!

Is debris clean-up a part of your services or is there an additional clean-up fee?
All our services include cleanup. We are often told by customers that we leave their yards cleaner than when we started their project! We use a wood chipper to dispose of branches and leaves, hand rakes to clean up your yard, and blowers to clear paths and sidewalks. We also have equipment to haul away large wood logs.
